Can Scoliosis Specific Exercises help Manage Scoliosis?

The article, "Current Concepts in Scoliosis Treatment",  by Alvin C. Jones, MD and Ann Smith, DPT, MS, PCS, OCS describes scoliosis as well as non-operative or conservative options that help manage the curve progression of scoliosis.     There are different organizations raising awareness for non-surgical options in treating and managing scoliosis.   Scientific Exercise Approach to Scoliosis (SEAS), Schroth, The Society on Scoliosis Orthopaedic Rehabilitation and Treatment (SOSORT),  and ScolioPilates, an exercise program with specific exercises for scoliosis.
Conservative treatment for scoliosis usually entails waiting to see if the curves progress, and bracing if they do progress.   ScolioPilates would like to suggest exercise as another option for conservative management of scoliosis.
This article discusses Scoliopilates being involved in a study at Dayton Children's hospital.  Since September 2017, 200 participants have gone through the physical therapy department working with Scoliopilates exercises and therapists.  Early results are promising and the study will continue.
